Several years ago instead of waiting to 'get' gifts for my birthday, I decided to GIVE gifts. I got a little something for each person, and wrapped them up pretty, and when we gathered for my birthday I gave them out. Everyone was so surprised and delighted. It was so fun to be focused on giving, not getting. It made it a whole new kind celebration.
