Tears in My Eyes
I just received this email via my Treasured Heirlooms website and am so moved by it that I needed to share it with all of you.
This is why I "do what I do"!
~~~~
I believe...'UREKA' is the word I would use to describe my elation as I browsed your website. For years, all of my creative impulses, love of antiques and heirlooms, and passion for creating little vignettes all around my home for as long as I can remember.
I've been searching for a way to satisfy and take advantage of this passion and gift I have for doing this type of work...and Your Cottage and Website, have given me the 'lightbulb' in my head. This is what I want to do!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to have/create/develop found heirlooms and special things, into wonderful pieces to gift and collect.
Sounds really silly, but I actually have tears in my eyes as I am writing this to you. Yes, I'm 50 and I'm certain the hormones are on escalators...but I'm also a woman who raised three kids on her own, and haven't had any formal education beyond high school. Options are limited for people with my lack of professionalism to be able to succeed financially and in many other factors of 'success', whatever that definition may be.
Now with my goals in sight, I can begin to develop my talent and passion and pursue my lifelong love of heirlooms, and use the creativity that God has given me.
Thank you, for what you do, and for speaking to me today, via the internet:)
Haunted Halloween Party - Part 3
A "Haunted Halloween Party"
at the Magic Kingdom
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
During our vacation in Disney we attended their famous "Haunted Halloween" party.
For the month of October all of the Magic Kingdom is dressed in it Halloween finery. Certain nights of the month they close the park early and only "Trick or Treaters" (people who pay the extra $$ to get in, lol) are allowed to come in and enjoy the Halloween Festivities. Two electric light Halloween Parades and an amazing firework displays are just the beginning. Mike and I had tickets for Tuesday night, October 6th.
Everywhere you looked people were dressed up in amazing costumes. Moms, Dads, kids, tweens and babies had lavish outfits which they obviously brought from home for the event. Many of them have been coming to the Halloween Party for years, so they were well prepared.
I wanted to dress up in a costume so badly, but I never had the chance to find one I liked before we left! So I decided that I would buy myself a Crystal Tiara and consider myself the "Queen of Everything" for the evening.
It worked.
It worked.
We entered the Magic Kingdom, received our Trick or Treat bags, took pictures of adorable children (didn't know them, but couldn't resist) and began our quest for free candy. Following the map and looking for the special "Goofy" sign throughout the park we began to fill our bags with all kinds of my favorite penny candy.
Two "Tinks" and Robin Hood
I had to buy one of these awesome balloons. I gave it away to a little boy named "Charlie" from the UK before we left our hotel for the airport. He was in awe of the giant gift and hadn't been to the Magic Kingdom yet. I'm sure I made his day as the smile on his face was priceless. Made me feel great.
It didn't take more than 1/2 an hour and I was feeling sick, not from the candy, but I wasn't quite sure what was wrong. I found a place to sit down and began to shake and sweat was pouring down like water from my entire body. Of course, it was 95 outside and the humidity was deadly. At this point I figured out I was completely dehydrated. My DH ran and got me cold water which I frantically drank. Luckily it worked and within moments I felt so much better. Just in time for the Haunted Halloween Fireworks display which was amazing. I only took a handful of photos, but it was a busy night as you can imagine. Candy first, pictures later.
Here are more fun pictures of "Fairy" collectibles available at the Magic Kingdom.
Magical Days - Part Two
OH THE CANDY!
One day on our vacation I thought it would be fun to take some photos of JUST SWEETS. If you know me, then you know I adore anything sweet, fake or real. My home looks like a real candy store, but I so enjoyed taking pictures of the candy store on
Main Street USA
DisneyWorld
Magic Kingdom
Have fun kids.
Magical Days - Part One
FRENCH QUARTER - PORT ORLEANS
Disney World, Florida
Disney World, Florida
My hubby and I just returned from a fabulous vacation in Florida. Although the heat was far beyond what we expected (95 degrees everyday with 95% humidity), we still managed to enjoy an early 10th Anniversary celebration.
We arrived on Sunday, October 4th and were shuttled to our hotel, Port Orleans, French
Quarter. It was amazing. It was balmy and beautiful and felt like paradise. The atmosphere was New Orleans Mardi Gras with a touch of French Flair. So far this was the best Disney hotel we ever visited. I did my very best to take as many photos as I could in the outrageous heat. I hope you enjoy them.
Mike happy to be on vacation!
How cool are the colors on the walls of our hotel, so sugary sweet
This was the entrance to our jacuzzi.
As beautiful as an English garden.
And the jacuzzi was heavenly.
The adorable fake lizards playing instruments on the path to the pool.
The pool view from our bedroom.
The water was warm and so refreshing.
A lovely fountain on one of the side streets leading to other rooms.
The street outside our hotel room leading to the the jacuzzi. Oh yeah!
Dusk on our street.
OMG!! Just loved the street signs....
How awesome is this "Cafe au Lait Way" sign.
... and this "Cake Walk" street sign. Too cute.
How French and Victorian chic.
This was the sign to our Gift Shop. Loved it!
We love to hear your comments, so please leave
them if you enjoyed this post.
Much more to come tomorrow!
The candy and our Trick or Treating Night at Disney World.
What a blast.
Enjoy everyone.
