IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

This past week the weather has been unseasonably warm, but we here in New England aren't complaining. It has been in the 90s for most of the week and the three-day "rain forecast" ~ never came. We had perfect, warm, sunny days for the entire
Memorial Day weekend.

I spent the whole week filling my pots with pink and white Wave Petunias, planting tons of my favorite seeds: Zinnias, Cosmos, Bee Balm, Bells of Ireland, Foxglove, Sweet William, Morning Glory, Sweet Pea and the list goes on. It was so hot that within two days the Zinnias had germinated! That was very exciting.

I think DH caught my spring fever and decided to do a bit of changing things around in the garden himself. Well.... I went outside to find him completely ripping up and rebuilding the walkway to the Pink Fairy Cottage. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he is enjoying himself, but his little feet smashed some of my precious and favorite plants, his wheelbarrow was sitting on top of new sprouts coming up and some of my favorite were just plain gone from sight!! OMG!!! I thought our garden was done, except for mulching ~ but DH had an IDEA and that was the beginning and end of that.

I'm sure once summer arrives and all the seeds germinate and I fill in the places where the birds ATE the seeds, all will be well again in the garden of the "Pink Fairy Cottage".

Take a peak and welcome to my world~!
Ah marriage is wonderful, isn't it.

Next week 2 yards of loam to level off the rocky road and several yards of mulch and ~ HOPEFULLY ~ we're done with the garden ~ except for weeding. There will be daily trips outdoors for weeding that's for sure.

Now on to cleaning and preparing the "Pink Fairy Cottage" for visitors and a quiet place to sit without ants, spiders, mice and whatever else takes up habitation in there during the winter months. More to come...........

ETSY TREASURY

I woke up this morning to a wonderful surprise. One of my vintage vanity trays with hand-built pink roses was chosen for a beautiful collage treasury on Etsy. It's called Fairies, Weddings, Bears, Oh My.

The treasury was created by Hoganfe. One of her fabrics that she uses to create cotton candy bags is filled with a pink rose design, sigh! mmmmmmmmmmmaybe I'll put that on my wish list to fill with paint brushes to carry them when I paint the roses pink.

Please click on the link below and leave a comment. The more comments, the better the chances of her Treasury being picked for a front page spot, then we all get featured on Etsy's Front Page. Wahooooooooooooo!

Here is a photo of my Vanity Tray she chose.

Have a great Memorial Weekend.

THE MOST HEARTWARMING LETTER...

I believe this letter is for myself and all of you ladies out there creating
stunning treasures for all the world to enjoy. Sometimes you might feel discouraged, or think your work has gone unnoticed or unappreciated. I assure you, it does not. Our lives are so "Full" of "Things to do" that we sometimes forget to stop and say "Thank you" or "You have inspired me today". So I have decided to share my amazing "Thank You" note with all of you with the hopes of lifting your spirits and remember to "Never Give Up on your Dreams".....

Just a little note... her children sent me little package and it is was a tiny Teddy Bear, a Wool Chickadee, and a large Pink Checkered heart covered with Fairy Stickers, Tulle, and a bow for hanging. It is just adorable and I will cherish these items forever.

"Dear Catherine,

It is with great pleasure that we send this little package to you. You have lightened our load, reminded us to truly and honestly enjoy, brought delight with ear to ear grins. You graciously share photographs of your adorable home, fairy cottage and garden as well as yourself over the phone. When a package arrives, once opened, out floats love hearts ~ fairy dust ~ butterflies ~ sunbeams ~ moonshine ~ flower petals ~ star glint and ~ angels with wings all enveloping us with sweet pleasures!

We thank God that you are in this world and that He allows us to be a part of your life and you a part of ours. We thank you for sharing your talents, creativity, warmth, professionalism, and friendship with its many facets.
MARTHA STEWART... EAT your heart out~! lol

With our affection and love,
Lorna and family

I FINALLY MADE IT!!!
I'M ON VACATION

I have been waiting for 7 months to take my mini-vacation to visit my BF, Michele. Michele lives in beautiful West Virginia where the countryside is just breathtaking. Her back porch view is a beautiful little lake and gorgeous mountains. The birds are eating their breakfast from the birdfeeder that sits just outside the kitchen door. The ducks are swimming in the lake down below and the buds are bursting and the tulips are swaying in the breeze. After a long, long, long cold winter in good ole New England, it was a pleasure to enjoy 80 degree temperatures yesterday as we ran around Martinsburg antiquing.

We came home with bags full of treasures, but realized that we left one big package at one of the shops we visited (OMG!!!) ~ so today we head back to pick up our forgotten package and spend another day looking for treasures.

If you have never been to Michele's website
~ ROSE PETALS AND BLOOMS ~

click on either one of her creations below and enjoy the view.

Well I'm off to do more antiquing. I'll be back next week with a BOATLOAD
of new vintage treasures! Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Don't forget to take a peek in at "Treasured Heirlooms" or
"Elegance and Whimsy" while you are here.

EAST MEETS WEST

This weekend I had the honor of meeting two amazing and beautiful women. Donna Norris, Associate Publisher of "Romantic Homes" magazine and Hillary Black, Editor of "Cottages & Bungalow". A few months ago, Donna mentioned she may be sent from California here to Boston some time in March for a business trip. We talked about the possibility of getting together for lunch when she arrived.
Last week I touched base with her and she confirmed she was coming to our big City and hopefully we would have a chance to meet.

When she arrived we made plans to get together for lunch. On Saturday my husband and I took a quick jaunt into Boston and I had the pleasure of having brunch with Donna and meeting Hillary.
We meet at Au Bon Pain in Copley Plaza for some sweets and coffee.

Donna is originally from Massachusetts (although her accent is gone completely and my accent is, well.... still there) so she and I felt quite at home together. Donna is exactly as I pictured her, beautiful, kind, and so sweet. We talked about everything from our favorite restaurants to our favorite vacation and shopping spots along the
New England coast.

She and my husband Mike both love the Red Sox, the Celtics and good food so there was plenty of chatting all around. It was as though we had known each other all our lives. Although we only had a few hours, every moment was precious and it meant the world to be able to thank the ladies from "Romantic Homes" in person and show my gratitude for the opportunity of having my home featured and being chosen to be on the cover of one of their holiday issues.

Hillary ran out from her booth at the Trade Show to meet Mike and I and say "hello" and brought me the new issue of "Cottages & Bungalows" (not even on the news stand yet). Can you hear me giggling with excitement? Hillary is bubbly, beautiful, and so very sweet. We all laughed and laughed while we tried to get good photos of each other to show our friends. Why is it that taking a good photo when you are short on time is almost impossible?

Well here is our best shot at taking a few quick pics before we had to say "good-bye".
