GUARDIAN ANGELS

I think we've all heard the saying "Everyone has a "Guardian Angel watching over them". Well, I do know that there have been too many times during my lifetime when something tragic happened in which the end should have resulted in my not being alive today. Since these incidents I have experienced were extremely frightening, I think it might be best not to post the details. Just the memories of them make me wonder... "who is MY Guardian Angel"... because I KNOW I have one!

As I was taking pictures of my "Pink Fairy Cottage" today, I was thrilled that it wasn't raining for the millionth day in a row and the tiny pink roses were actually blooming on top of the roof. Getting pictures of the roses in bloom each summer is quite the challenge, as the window of opportunity is most often very short. Usually the roses bloom for a few days while it is pouring "cats and dogs". By the time the rain stops all the petals are on the ground and I have a beautiful "green" veil covering the house with no pink fairy roses.

Today was my big chance! I walked up to the cottage to straighten up the little sign I have there which I painted years ago which reads "Angels Garden Here". I loved it so much I could never sell it, so now it adorns the outside of the "cottage".

Once I had a couple of pics that I thought "might" be o.k., I came inside, downloaded the photos and continued on with my day which consisted of adding new treasures to my websites. While I was working I noticed there was actually a "theme" happening today. It seemed as though all of my newest treasures were adorned with Cherubs, Angels, or both. What an inspiration as I worked through the day and the sun finally came bursting through the 8 days of rain clouds! I guess my "Guardian Angel" was answering my prayers today.

I thought you might enjoy taking a look.

TREASURED HEIRLOOMS
& Make Mine Pink celebrate

PINK FRIDAY ~ JUNE 12th
"ALONG THE GARDEN PATH"

Delights and pleasures that make your heart beat a little faster await you along the garden path. Sights and sounds and smells that excite your senses and inspire your imagination. Perhaps it's the purple cone flowers, multicolored morning glories, fragrant angel trumpets, or the lordly foxglove, all grown from seed and tended with love, that line the path and remind you to dream. Or the delicate shadow of a Victoria trellis supporting a new vine that takes you on a new flight of fancy. In the early morning hours, or when the sun begins to set, a verdigris candle holder or metal scroll work lantern might illuminate the garden pathway. But it's the vintage metal buckets painted with floral designs and planted with overflowing flowers, that seem to light the way.

The garden scenery is reflected in a beautiful handmade cushion, stitched from fabric alive with pink blossoms, then placed on a nearby garden chair. A decorative vintage birdcage hangs from a weather hook. On the table lies a gardening book filled with inspiration and ideas to share. Later, you'll remember absent friends and lovingly write to them on note cards reminiscent of a favorite rose garden. But for right now, you'll celebrate with those who are here, and share the treasures you've found along the garden path.

GOING GREEN WITH COLOR

The garden is finally finished! The seeds are down, the new perennials are in the ground, the pots are filled, and the mulch is perfect. Whew, that was a lot of work. But its really paying off. The garden is really beginning to flourish now that Spring has finally arrived.

I decided that once the garden was "all done", my next project was to get to and "finish" all the "stuff" I had in storage waiting to be created into something pretty. We all have "stuff" that we buy and say to ourselves "I'm going to make something really beautiful with this". But we also know that the "day" doesn't always arrive for a couple of years.

The time has come for serious clean-up in the Scalise attic and basement. I am digging out all the buried treasure and turning it into gorgeous heirlooms for your romantic home and cottage. Today I am adding as much as possible of the finished projects to-date ~ to "Treasured Heirlooms" and to "Elegance and Whimsy" boutiques. It will probably take me a day or two to get everything posted. This picture is only a small bit of what I have to offer.

I'm very proud to say that I'm "GOING GREEN with COLOR". Recycling antiques and vintage "cast-offs" into gorgeous and must have "treasures".

DH and I also did a bit of antiquing along the New England shoreline last Saturday. We drove all the way up to the tip of Maine antiquing. Loads of great finds all being added as well.

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

This past week the weather has been unseasonably warm, but we here in New England aren't complaining. It has been in the 90s for most of the week and the three-day "rain forecast" ~ never came. We had perfect, warm, sunny days for the entire
Memorial Day weekend.

I spent the whole week filling my pots with pink and white Wave Petunias, planting tons of my favorite seeds: Zinnias, Cosmos, Bee Balm, Bells of Ireland, Foxglove, Sweet William, Morning Glory, Sweet Pea and the list goes on. It was so hot that within two days the Zinnias had germinated! That was very exciting.

I think DH caught my spring fever and decided to do a bit of changing things around in the garden himself. Well.... I went outside to find him completely ripping up and rebuilding the walkway to the Pink Fairy Cottage. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he is enjoying himself, but his little feet smashed some of my precious and favorite plants, his wheelbarrow was sitting on top of new sprouts coming up and some of my favorite were just plain gone from sight!! OMG!!! I thought our garden was done, except for mulching ~ but DH had an IDEA and that was the beginning and end of that.

I'm sure once summer arrives and all the seeds germinate and I fill in the places where the birds ATE the seeds, all will be well again in the garden of the "Pink Fairy Cottage".

Take a peak and welcome to my world~!
Ah marriage is wonderful, isn't it.

Next week 2 yards of loam to level off the rocky road and several yards of mulch and ~ HOPEFULLY ~ we're done with the garden ~ except for weeding. There will be daily trips outdoors for weeding that's for sure.

Now on to cleaning and preparing the "Pink Fairy Cottage" for visitors and a quiet place to sit without ants, spiders, mice and whatever else takes up habitation in there during the winter months. More to come...........
