WELCOME EVERYONE
IT'S PINK SATURDAY

Of course this is the time of year when we all love to show off what's growing in our gardens. Even though it's a bit early for lots and lots of blooms. I took a couple of quick pics of what's happening in the Garden of the Pink Fairy Cottage. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Karen Valentine is hosting the.....

2nd Annual Where Bloggers Create party- June 19th, 2010!!!! It’s time again to share your creative spaces!!!

Is your space at the dining room table? Do you have a room of your own? Have you converted a closet? And what do you do in there? What kind of things do you create?

This year is special because Jo Packham and Where Women Create magazine is offering some fabulous prizes!

The first prize is your own feature in Where Women Create magazine! (How cool is that?) Jo Packham herself will pick the winner and boy is it ever a fun experience!

Then we will be offering to 6 random party goers,
2- 1 year subscriptions to Where Women Create magazine
2 -Sets of Jo’s books Where Women Create and The Book of Inspiration
2-WWC charm bracelets

So this is how it will work. If you want to participate leave me a comment on this post. I will add your name to the list of participants on my sidebar. On the night before the party, post your photos and stories about yourselves and your art. (This assures that the early risers or those bloggers in other parts of the world can see your post on time.) We all love lots of pictures so don’t be shy!!!! On the day of the party we will all meet here and you can spend the whole weekend blog hopping to visit everyone’s blogs and get a peak inside all the very wonderful and creative studios!!
It doesn’t matter if your space is big or small, it’s yours and that makes it special!!!

This year I have set up a separate blog to house all the links for a whole year, so don’t worry if you can’t visit them all in a week or two. After they hang out on my blog for a while I will move them all to my Where Bloggers Create blog so you can visit them anytime you want to!!!

I have one favor to ask.... Please help me spread the word!! I have created a button for everyone to grab and put on their blog. And if you would like to help further please do a post about the party as well. The more folks who know about the party, the more fun we will all have!!!!

I hope to see you all there!!!!

Thanks, Karen Valentine

PINK SATURDAY and my very first
MERMAID CROWN

I decided to combine the beauty of bridal lace and pearls with the beachy look of precious seashells. The outcome was an over-the-top "Mermaid Crown". Some of you may even call it a "Siren By the Sea Crown". Either way, I think the combination is lovely, don't you?

Wouldn't you feel like the "Queen of the Sea" with this pretty Crown? What a lovely conversation piece for your home or a stunning crown to wear at a fun, seaside event. I really enjoyed making it along with several other seashell lovelies. I hope you enjoyed seeing it. It's for sale on Elegance & Whimsy.

Enjoy the view and have a great weekend everyone.

PINK MERMAID APRON

Some of you may already know her, but some of you may not. I wanted to share an amazingly talented lady with all of my blogging friends. Her name is Holly from HollyLovesArt.

Holly creates the most over-the-top, one-of-a-kind, aprons. She posted this stunning, mermaid, apron on her blog the other day and I immediately was drawn to it. Of course it was Pink and it has tons of vintage lace on it. Right then and there I knew I HAD TO HAVE IT.

I emailed Holly and she said "no problem it's yours". It arrived today and all I can say is I'm in LOVE. I adore my new "mermaid" apron AND of course, it is so much prettier in person. All the embellishments are sewn on by hand. A gorgeous mermaid is surrounded by ribbon and pearls. The gorgeous yoyos are adorned with VERY SPARKLY vintage buttons and vintage hankies hang from here and there.

I guess I just want to say "HOLLY I LOVE IT" and "THANK YOU" for your artwork. I will wear my "mermaid apron" with pride. Can't wait to meet you in person. xo

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY and
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY EVERYONE!

Summer is here, yippeee! I haven't had a minute to post this week. I've been crafting up a storm and loving every moment of my creative time. But there was no way I would miss posting on Beverly's two year "Pink Saturday" Anniversary. Thank you Beverly for coming up with this wonderful, pink idea. I've enjoyed every moment of it each Saturday and intend to participate for many, many, more. I appreciate the hours of time and effort you put into it each week to make it fun and interesting for all who participate.

This week I received the most gorgeous swap treasures from the sweet Michele Wilder of Micheles Treasures. She and I were partners in Linda's A Swap for All Seasons ~ "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue" Swap. Although the theme had that wedding ring to it, we could send anything we wanted that fit the categories plus one pretty vintage wedding photo.

Michele sent me the most beautifully wrapped packages and inside was a treasure trove of items I will cherish forever. Especially the oval floral glass pin which Michele makes and sells on her Etsy site. And.... that beautiful vintage perfume bottle blinged out with stunning, vintage jewels.

Take a peak below at my stash.

A Little Spring Vignette

Several months ago Fifi from "Romantic Country Magazine" gave me a call and asked me to pull together a "Spring Vignette" photo shoot for a possible upcoming feature in the April issue. Unfortunately it ended up that the vignette did not fit the theme for that particular month, so it wasn't used. But.....

I thought you may enjoy seeing my "little spring themed vignette". I hope you like all the fun spring colors.

See you tomorrow for Beverly's huge
"Pink Saturday" Two Year Anniversary Event.

MARIE ANTOINETTE CROWN

My gorgeous crown from my secret Swap Partner Cassi arrived two days ago. I thought I would share her amazing talent with all of you on this lovely Pink Saturday post.

Not only is this crown beautiful, the details are gorgeous. Stunning fabric, silk ribbons, aqua lace, roses, vintage rhinestone jewelry, pearls and glitter. Now seriously, could you ask for a more perfect crown? The absolutely best, best, part is that it fits my tiny head perfectly. I don't know how she managed it 'cause I never can, but I placed it atop my head and it doesn't even barely fall off. I'm definitely wearing this while I clean the house!

Thank you Cassi! I adore my stunning, Marie Antoinette Crown.

Just when you think to yourself "Does what I do really matter"... one of these amazing emails drops in your In Box and you are forever grateful.

This one arrived today, so I am going to share it with all my treasured friends. BTW, I finally went to the dr. today to get some medicine to kick this terrible flu to the curb. I expect to be well in the morning! lol

Dear Cathy,

Thank you... thank you so very much. My first look at your pink cottage and the items you sell have changed my life and home.

I had lived in a 70's ranch for 32 years (red shag carpet and dark colors). After seeing what could be possible, my fantastic handyman and I will be working together in the next week or so to begin building my dream cottage in my backyard. I've been collecting furnishings for the past months (already have 5 plastics totes full plus a box and a huge stack of pillows) and will have lumber within a week.

I've saved the pix of your cottage plus a large notebook of ideas for painting and decorating this "Big Girl" playhouse. I can hardly wait. Hopefully, I will chronicle the construction, decoration, and enjoyment of my fairy rose cottage through photos.

Thank you again for all of your inspiration.

IT'S PINK SATURDAY!!!!!

I am still down and out with this terrible cold, but am feeling much better. I wanted to get lots and lots of photos for today's Pink Event, but just didn't have the umph in me to take more than a couple.

Here are some pics of my "finished" parasol from the
Petticoats & Parasols Art Event in Savannah.

And this is the "Cupcake Fairy" Crown I made to wear on vendor night.
Hope you enjoy these few pics.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

May Day Tussie Mussie Swap

Sweet Linda from "A Swap for All Seasons" had an awesome "May Day Tussie Mussie" swap. My partner was one of my dear friends "Dolly" ~ "FromMyCherryHeart". Dolly and I have know each other for several years. As a matter of fact one of her amazing pink boxes with a cherry painted on it has been part of my kitchen decor for at least two years now. If you want one like it, you should visit her Etsy shop. She does stunning work and her items creations are painted with a lot of love and talent.

I have to apologize for being so late in posting the special swap treasures Dolly sent me, as I have not been well. I took the photos when my box first arrived. I did my best, but I have taken much better photos before. I hope Dolly forgives me for not showing off her talent in the best light possible.
Here are a few photos of what I received from sweet Dolly.

My favorite item other than my lovely tussie was the miniature oil painting of my "Pink Fairy Cottage". Isn't it perfect?

Thank you Dolly for all your wonderful treasures and your generosity! I love it all! xo Cathy
